Below is a list of AMREF’s main spokespeople – each is able to provide a response on the identified issue.

General spokespeople
Dr Teguest Guerma, AMREF Director General (Kenya)
Dr Guerma joined AMREF in 2010. Formerly the Associate Director of HIV/AIDS for the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Dr Guerma began her career as a medical practitioner in Burundi in the 1980, and has particular expertise in the field of HIV/AIDS. She is fluent in English and French.
Belinda Coote, AMREF UK Chief Executive Officer (UK)
Belinda has a strong background in international development – among other roles, she spent 18 years with Oxfam both in the UK and overseas, including in Nepal, Bangladesh and South Africa.
Training health workers
Dr Peter Ngatia, AMREF Director of Capacity Building, (Kenya)
Dr Ngatia’s involvement with AMREF spans over 25 years. His expertise in health development has been sought by Ministries of Health, the World Bank, EU, and WHO. He holds a PhD in Medical Education from the University of Alberta, Canada.
Caroline Mbindyo, AMREF eLearning Programme Manager (Kenya)
Caroline oversees AMREF’s innovative eLearning programme, which upgrades the skills of nurses across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Unlike traditional training, the eLearning computer-based programme is flexible, enabling students to learn anytime and anywhere without the need to stop working.
Maternal and reproductive health
Dr John Nduba, Director of Reproductive and Child Health (Kenya)
Dr. Nduba has worked closely with East African Ministries of Health, and other key organizations in policy development and national implementation of health sector reform strategies in the areas of reproductive health, child health, malaria and HIV/AIDS.
Water, hygiene and sanitation
Gerald Rukunga, Programme Manager, Environmental Health & Capacity Building, (Kenya)
Gerald is Programme manager for water, hygiene and sanitation and his particular focus is on water from different perspectives such as global public health, environment, sanitation and hygiene, appropriate technology, water economy and policy.
Fundraising and communications
Shivonne Graham, AMREF UK Director of Fundraising and Communications (UK)
Shivonne has led fundraising teams to success at Shelter, Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres and Comic Relief. She leads AMREF UK’s fundraising and communications team in an exciting period of growth and innovation.
