Fantastic fundraising by the Opal Foundation as Manchester Meets Africa!

Africa came to Manchester last night as the Opal Foundation hosted a fundraising dinner in aid of AMREF.

Friends and business contacts of the Opal Property Group came out to support the Opal Foundation, which has been raising money this year to fund a water and sanitation project in Kechene, the largest slum in Addis Ababa.

The Opal Foundation has been raising money since 2010 to fund new facilities for Kechene. They have achieved this through a range of different fundraising activities, from raffles in the halls of residence to summer barbecues, right up to the large scale challenges such as the Three Peaks Challenge and the London to Paris cycle ride.

The dinner had an all-African menu matched with South African wine. Guests were asked to pledge their support by purchasing toy bathroom facilities, to raise money for the construction of new (life-sized!) facilities in Kechene.

At the end of a fantastic evening, Stuart Wall, CEO of the Opal Group and founder of the Opal Foundation, presented AMREF with a cheque for £40,000! We are very grateful to all the guests and particularly to the committee of the Opal Foundation for their outstanding fundraising and support.
